Online Teaching Tip #1: Skype Viruses

When you received a suspicious link via Skype chatbox from a student, be sure not to click it. Some of the actual Skype viruses look like these:

http://bit.ly (with some letters and numbers)

(HELLO) (wave) Your contact invites you to discover new emoticons in Skype. Find out more at [link]

Hi Dear my English teacher, I'm (student's name). Sorry long time no see on Skype... [link]

"hey [your name]"! advice [link]

(your company name) (your name) video: http://[link] :)

Your skype does not support extended icons. Please download the extension here: [link]

Some viruses recommend some type of diet pills, as well. If you receive these kinds of links, do NOT click it and report it to your company's Teacher Support immediately. What the support team usually does is, they contact the student whose Skype account was infected with the virus.
